May
Events Mark your calendars, we've got three adoption
events scheduled for May. We'll have the mobile adoption trailer at
the Weatherford Petsmart on May 3rd and will be assisting with a
special adoption day at the shelter on Sunday, May 4th, in support
of national Pet Adoptathon events. We'll also schedule a second
mobile adoption event later in the month and will announce it
shortly.
Chamber
of Commerce Ribbon Cutting We joined the Weatherford
Chamber of Commerce and will have a ribbon cutting on Thursday, May
8th, at 10:00am. Please join us at the Chamber of Commerce office
(in the train depot near Albertson's in Weatherford).
Molly
Update
Molly is a special needs yellow lab that Parker Paws is
fostering. She was not very adoptable at the shelter due to medical
problems and a lack of socialization, but we felt she deserved a
second chance. She's had her surgery and is recovering well at one
of our volunteer's home. We hope to take her with us on upcoming
adoption events in an effort to find her forever home. Click here
for more information.

Volunteer
Activities Increase for Parker Paws
We had two
successful adoption events in April, welcoming several new volunteers
and adopting 9 pets while we were at Petsmart and Tractor Supply. We
also collected supplies for the shelter from many generous
donors.
These children found their new friend while we were at Petsmart
on April 12. This friendly little pug mix bonded quickly with their
family.
We've also added more volunteers to our efforts to update
Petfinder with pictures and information on the adoptable pets at the
shelter. Our petfinder page generates many adoptions as people
across the metroplex, and throughout the state, come to our shelter
to adopt pets they've viewed on-line.
Parker
Paws Receives Recognition
April was National Volunteer Appreciation Month and the City of
Weatherford hosted a luncheon at Chandor Gardens for several
volunteer groups that support City services, including Parker Paws.
Barbara Pursley accepted a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the
group.
Peach
Festival Plans
The Parker County Peach Festival will
be held on July 12th and our group has already started planning our
debut at this popular event. Last year an estimated 45,000-50,000
visitors attended the Peach Festival and we hope to gain increased
exposure for our group with the sell of handcrafted pet accessories
and by providing the watering station for the pets at the festival.
Please contact us if you know of a group that would like to
assist us in our crafts production. |
