Parker Paws
Happy Tales

Kelly and Mike shared with us their gratitude in adopting Lily from the shelter. Our thanks to Susan and the other volunteers who assist potential adopters in finding their new best friends.

Foster Program

We have a foster program with volunteers who take pets home from the shelter to give them more time to find a permanent home. We found homes for 14 fostered pets in April and took in 46 more. Yes, 46! That includes several nursing moms with offspring. They won't be available for adoption until the young ones are weaned, but here are some of our foster pets who are available for adoption now (with links to their Petfinder pages):

Roxanne Rosie Max
Doodle Chevy Brittany

Adoption Events

We held three adoption events at Petsmart in April, finding homes for 12 pets. Pictured above is Bailey, who finally found her new family. We'll be busy this month with a Pet Fair at the shelter on May 8; and adoption events at the Ace Hardware in Willow Park at their Classic Car Show on May 15 and at Jerry's Auto Group in Hudson Oaks on May 22 and 29. Check our Events page for more details.

Pet Fair - May 8

Our first annual Pet Fair will be held at the shelter on May 8 from 11am until 2pm. We'll have a microchip clinic, providing chips for your pet for only $15. We'll also have $5 nail clipping, a rummage sale to benefit the animals, and McGruff (from noon until 1:30) providing fingerprinting for your children. We'll be showing off our fostered pets and the shelter pets available for adoption.

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic and Vaccinations

In honor of Be Kind to Animals Week (May 2-8), we will host a low-cost spay/neuter clinic at the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter on May 10. It will be by appointment only. You may call 940-566-5551 for additional information and scheduling. Please spread the word to your family and friends. It's a great opportunity to avoid adding to the unwanted pets.

We'll also provide low-cost vaccinations for your pets at the shelter from 10am until 2pm, no appointment needed. The shelter is located at 403 Hickory Lane in Weatherford.

Hot Dog Trot 2010

We're in the planning stage of our second annual Hot Dot Trot which will be held on August 14 at Hall Middle School in Weatherford. If you can help us with sponsors and/or vendors, please contact us. We've got fun ways for you to promote your business or otherwise help us with this event. It's going to be even better with more activities for everyone. For more information and photos from last year, visit our website: www.HotDogTrot.com.

Have a great month!
