Fostering
with Parker Paws We welcomed 2 new foster volunteers this
month, keeping up our goal of saving more of shelter pets.
In May, volunteers took in 9 dogs (including a blind dog and one
who had been seriously injured) plus a mother dog who had just given
birth at the shelter and her 4 puppies, and 2 infant kittens. We
found homes for 5 dogs, 14 puppies (from 2 litters born to shelter
dogs), and 9 kittens born to shelter cats or dropped off at the
shelter too young to survive.
Here are seven of our foster pets who are available for adoption
now with links to their Petfinder pages:

Special
Request Some of our foster volunteers are in need of dog
kennels for temporary use while separating their foster pets from
their personal pets. Especially during times when the volunteer is
not at home, until they are sure that the dogs will get along.
A good size is similar to the one pictured below, which is 10 x
10 x 6. If you notice any used ones for sale, or could help us
purchase them, would you please let us know? Thank you.
We love our supporters! Please share this newsletter with your
friends. There are so many homeless pets in need, and so many ways
you can make a difference in their lives. If you can't volunteer at
this time, please consider helping us help them by making a
donation. All donations are tax-deductible. |
Mobile
Adoptions
We held three mobile adoption events in May, finishing with our
best event to date at Jerry's Chevrolet. The staff at Jerry's not
only helped us promote the pets and find homes for 15 of them, but
they also helped us tremendously with their fundraising efforts. Our
thanks to Jerry's for making it such a success!
Some of the dogs finding homes are shown below:

Lola (left) and Cody (right) had both been in foster care by
volunteers, while Rex (center) had been waiting at the shelter for a
new home.
Upcoming
Events
With the increasingly hot weather, we'll plan more activities at
the shelter to make it easier on the pets (and the volunteers).
We've got a lot of fun ideas in mind so please stay tuned while we
prepare a calendar of events.
Hot
Dog Trot
We're also planning our first dog walk, thanks to our organizers
at Wright Chiropractic Health Center. The event will be held on
August 15, in the morning to beat the heat. There will be a 1K Fun
Walk/Run as well as a certified 5K, with awards in many categories.
You may walk/run with or without your dog. We will also have a Dog
Costume Contest!
We're now looking for vendors, sponsors, and entrants. Click here to download an application. Or contact us at
info@parkerpaws.org if you're interested in being a vendor or
sponsor. We hope to see you there.
Stay cool and please make sure your pets are comfortable, too!
