July Events
Our next mobile adoption event will be at Petsmart in Weatherford on July 19 (noon until 3:30). We'll now have our mobile adoption event at Petsmart the third Saturday of each month. This will help the public know well in advance when we will be there. We'll have a second adoption event each month if we have enough volunteers and advance notice. Please contact us if you'd like to volunteer.

Aledo Vet Clinic Helps Parker Paws
Thank you to the Aledo Vet Clinic who has chosen Parker Paws as their Frontline Paws for Charity! Help them support our cause by purchasing Frontline and Heartguard from them. For every purchase of either, one dollar will be contributed to Parker Paws. This promotion is only good for the month of July.

Also, tail wags to the Aledo Vet Clinic for putting out a donation jar in their check out area!

Parker Paw Purchases
Thanks to our generous supporters, we were able to help the shelter when they ran low on supplies this month. We restocked their supply of canned dog food (for senior dogs, nursing dogs, other dogs that benefit from canned food), hand soap, laundry detergent and bleach.

Groundbreaking Ceremony
Construction is to begin on a new office and spay/neuter building, and a new kennel building. The official groundbreaking ceremony will be at the shelter on July 16th at 4:00. You are invited to join us in celebrating this much-needed and greatly appreciated addition.

Shelter Recognition

The shelter received state recognition after being presented with the 2008 City/County Cooperation Awared, bestowed jointly by the Texas Municipal League, Texas Association of Counties, and Texas Association of Regional Councils. The award recognizes the successful collaboration between the City of Weatherford and Parker County in their running of the shelter together.

Peach Festival Plans

We're preparing for the Parker County Peach Festival (July 12th). We'll be selling hand-crafted items to raise money in support of the shelter and will also provide the watering station for the dogs at the festival.

Be sure to stop by our booth during the festival. We'll be near the stage in the children's section, northwest of the courthouse.

June Heats Up But the Volunteers Keep Going

We had a great offsite adoption event at Petsmart on June 21, with 8 pets being adopted. This is one happy little girl that got adopted.

Several volunteers meet at the shelter each Wednesday to help take pictures for Petfinder.com. Thanks to them, we're able to add every adoptable pet to the website and help spread the word to potential adopters.

Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Parade

Several volunteers and their dogs rode through Weatherford in the annual parade. Oh, and one goat came along, too. She loves to ride!
