Parker Paws
Foster Success

Update: Tia has been adopted and is enjoying her new family. Your donations allow us to help pets like Tia who arrive at the shelter needing immediate vet care, thank you!

Foster Program

Our foster program has volunteers who take pets home from the shelter to give them more time and/or provide needed vet care to find a permanent home. We took 11 more pets from the shelter into foster care in June, and 20 went out (lots of kittens), but our foster homes are still full. Here are some foster pets who are available for adoption now (with links to their Petfinder pages):

Josie Levi Doodle
Roxie Shadow Brittany
Nelson Boots Sunshine

Interested in volunteering with us? We'd love to have your help. Our volunteer page has more information, or email me at barb@parkerpaws.org.

Join us on Twitter and Facebook and share with your friends, it'll help get more homeless pets adopted! We've had several adoptions last month from people who heard about our pets through the internet.

Our second annual Hot Dog Trot will be held on August 14. We'll have a 1K fun run/walk and a chip-certified 5K, with or without your dog. You may register online or download a registration brochure from www.hotdogtrot.com. We'll also have a dog costume contest, dachshund races, vendors, raffle prizes, and more activities for the whole family. We hope to see you there!

Adoption Events

We held four adoption events in June, finding new homes for many shelter pets. We'll be staying indoors for our events this month due to the heat. We'll be at Big Lots in the College Park Shopping Center on Saturday, July 3, from 10am - 2pm; and then inside the Petsmart in Weatherford for the rest of the Saturdays this month (from 11am - 2pm). Please stop by and visit.

Makeovers

We've had several shaggy dogs arrive at the shelter this month in need of grooming. This month Le Chateau K-9 came to their rescue and donated grooming for several dogs to make them "adoption ready". Lance, shown above, was adopted within minutes of his makeover.

Fundraiser - The Wild Mushroom

Our thanks to everyone who joined us at The Wild Mushroom in Weatherford for the Celebrity Bartending event on June 24. What a great restaurant and fun evening. We enjoyed meeting with many of our supporters in the community while raising money for our programs. This lets us move forward with more ways to help the shelter animals. In addition to providing supplies for the shelter and vet care for fostered pets, we'll be expanding our spay/neuter programs for the public. Thank you for making it possible for us to do more for the pets.

Have a great month!
