August
Events We will host a volunteer day at the shelter on
August 16 to assist with adoptions there, rather than conduct an
offsite event (due to the excessive heat). Volunteers will have
leashed dogs out of their kennels and more accessible to visitors,
and help answer their questions about the adoption procedure.
Aledo
Vet Clinic Helps Parker Paws Thank you to the Aledo Vet
Clinic who chose Parker Paws as their Frontline Paws for Charity!
The special promotion for July raised over $130. Additional funds
were raised with the use of donation jars at their clinic. Thank you
to all who helped!
Parker
Paw Purchases Thanks to our generous supporters, we were
able to aid the shelter when they ran low on supplies this month. We
restocked their supply of cardboard cat carriers, kitty litter and
bleach.
Groundbreaking
Ceremony There was a large crowd of supporters for the
groundbreaking ceremony on July 16. Construction has begun on a new
office and spay/neuter building, and a new kennel building. You may
read the news article by clicking here.
Join
the Bed Drive One of the new buildings under construction
will have 24 dog kennels. Funding is still shy of the total costs,
and Parker Paws will help by raising money to purchase the 24
Kuranda beds needed.
At $54 each, we'll need to raise $1300. We've already raised
nearly $800 at the Peach Festival, and will continue our efforts. If
you'd like to help, our donation page
provides a link for payments on-line through PayPal.
We love our supporters! Please share this newsletter with your
friends. |
Peach
Festival Success
We raised nearly $800 at our booth at
the Peach Festival through donations and through the sale of
hand-crafted items (some made by our volunteers, others donated by
local crafters)
Two of our volunteers had their rescued dogs with them, and
received many donations. This is Lily accepting a donation from a
young boy. View more pictures of the event here.
July
Volunteering
We had an offsite adoption event
at Petsmart on July 19, with 3 dogs being adopted. This is A.J., one
who found a new home.
Several volunteers meet at the shelter each Wednesday to assist
with picture taking for Petfinder.com. Thanks to them, we're able to
add every adoptable pet to the website and connect with potential
adopters.
Spreading
the word
We are excited to share our new brochures. Janelle and Blair
Currin designed the brochures and Sharon Henkelman, of Imaging
Bureau, donated the printing of 25,000 brochures. We can't thank
them enough! This will increase our exposure to the public in such
a professional manner.
We had printed a few ourselves but it was cost-prohibitive to
maintain an adequate supply. Thanks to these generous donors we
distributed brochures at the Peach Festival and can now maintain a
supply for distribution at the shelter, the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce
and other community outreach areas. If you would like to share some
with your friends, please let us know and we'll provide them for you.
