Parker Paws
Foster Program

Our foster program has volunteers who take pets home from the shelter to give them more time and/or provide needed vet care to find a permanent home. We took 16 more pets from the shelter into foster care in August, and 10 went out. As we adopt more out, our volunteers can take more home from the shelter. Here are some foster pets who are available for adoption now (with links to their Petfinder pages):

Charli Shadow Abby
Max Suzette Raven
Sally Roxie Mindy

2nd Annual Hot Dog Trot

The second annual Wright Chiropractic Hot Dog Trot on August 14 was a great success. There were 287 runners, a 67% increase from last year. We added a doggie kissing booth, a face painter, dachshund races, and a car show to our fun activities which also include a canine costume contest and demonstrations by Butch Cappel, a professional dog trainer. We raised $11,838 for the shelter pets! Thank you to all our sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and participants. For race results and other information, please visit www.HotDogTrot.com.

Adoption Events

Chester is a playful collie who was adopted from our adoption events in August. We held four adoption events in August, finding new homes for 8 pets. Please check our events page and stop by to visit our pets. It's a great opportunity for you, and it provides socialization for the pets.

Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic

We're sponsoring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic at the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter (through Texas Coalition for Animal Protection) by appointment only on September 13. Please call 940-566-5551 to schedule your appointment. They'll also provide low-cost vaccinations with no appointment required from 10am - 2pm. One day only!

We're pleased to be working with dedicated veterinarians in Parker County to establish regular monthly low-cost spay/neuter options. Watch our website for more information.

Have a great month!
