Fostering Gives Pets More Time
We continue to increase our foster home capacity. Our generous foster volunteers took in 8 pets in September that were in need of extra care, including 3 unweaned kittens and a pregnant dog that was days from giving birth. In the same month, 5 pets were adopted from our foster homes. You can learn more about our foster program at our website.

Parker Paw Purchases
Our donors made it possible for us to assist the shelter this month when they ran low on dog leashes, kitty litter and cleaning supplies. Thank you for helping us help them.

Gidget is one Foxy Girl
Gidget is a smooth-coat fox terrier. She's only about a year old, already spayed, and is current on her shots. She gets along well with other dogs.

She came from the shelter but is now in one of our foster (temporary) homes to give her more time to find a permanent home. You can get more information about her, or schedule a time to meet her, by emailing her at gidget@parkerpaws.org.

Click and Vote
While you're online, you can visit daily at the Animal Rescue Site here to help provide food and care to rescued animals, and then click on the Vote Now link to give the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter a chance to win up to $25,000 in grant funds to help the animals. Thank you!

We love our supporters! Please share this newsletter with your friends.

Have a Haunted Evening with Us

For those of us who never outgrow costumes and candy corn, Bella Pop Photography is hosting the Boo! Bash, a Halloween party on October 25 to benefit Parker Paws and the animals at the shelter. This fun evening includes a spooky-good buffet, costume contest, carved pumpkin contest, raffles and more! Find all the details and order your tickets here.

September Volunteering

We held an adoption event at Pets West on September 13, but competed with Hurricane Ike. Still, three dogs were adopted before we were rained out.

We had another adoption event at Teskey's on September 20, and eight dogs were adopted.

This friendly terrier was one of the dogs adopted at Teskey's.

We've also continued our weekly photo session on Wednesdays so that all of the adoptable pets can be posted on-line at weatherford.petfinder.com. We thank our new volunteers, Brandy and Brandon Frank of Bella Pop Photography, who help the pets look their best for their close-ups. Our petfinder page had 9800 hits in September and it brings many potential adopters to the shelter.

October Events

We'll conduct a mobile adoption event at Petsmart in Weatherford on Saturday, October 18, from 10am until 2pm. We'll also host information tables and have fundraising at Brookshires grocery store on October 4 from 10am until 2pm, and that evening at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department's dinner from 5pm until 8pm. And just around the corner from October, join us also as we assist with a pet costume contest at Dr. Grote's Open House on November 1 from 9am until noon. Please check our events webpage for more details.

Meet Roper & Mouse

Pay a visit to our Happy Tales page and read our latest entry about these two best friends. We hope you and your friends have a great month!
