Focus
on Fosters Our foster volunteers took home several more
pets from the shelter this month, to give them more time until a
permanent home can be found.
Our featured foster pet this month is Jody, a young adult border
collie. She's become a much more sociable pet in her foster home,
after being turned in to the shelter as a scared, reclusive mom with
three puppies. You can read more about her on her Petfinder page here.
Here are some of our other foster pets, with links to their
Petfinder pages:

October
Volunteering
We held an adoption event at PetSmart on
October 18, and four pets were adopted.
Gidget, our featured foster dog in October, was one of
the dogs adopted at the PetSmart event.
Several of our foster volunteers attended the annual Halloween
event at Walden's Farm and Ranch on October 25th and adopted out a
well-mannered shepherd mix from the shelter.
We had a busy month of fundraising in October, including events
at the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department's annual dinner,
Brookshire's pet promotion, a garage sale ($400 raised, thanks to
our volunteer Lana hosting this at her home, assisted by volunteers
Linda and Kay), Boo! Bash Halloween Party (estimated $2,000 raised,
thanks to our fabulous hosts from Bella Pop: Brandy and Brandon
Frank), and Dr. Grote's Open House, allowing us yet another
fundraising opportunity which resulted in $450 for items needed at
the shelter. These fundraising efforts will allow Parker Paws to
purchase the cages needed in the new cat and small-breed dog rooms
in the building under construction.
A big thanks to all the volunteer effort involved in these
activites, and to our generous supporters who allow us to increase our
impact with the lost and abandoned pets at the shelter.
November
Activities
We'll conduct a mobile adoption event at
the Grand Opening of a new Chase Bank in Weatherford on Saturday,
November 22, from 10am until 2pm.
We'll also enter a Christmas tree in the annual Fantasy Forest
competion at Weatherford City Hall. The public will bid on the
entries and vote for the People's Choice. Parker Paws will receive
all the silent auction funds received for our tree entry and the
People's Choice winner will be awarded an additional $150. Our tree
won 2nd place last year so we're anxiously planning for a first
place win this year. Silent auction and voting will be held at City
Hall from November 17 until December 5.
In
the News
The Weatherford Democrat featured Parker Paws
in their Sunday edition on November 2. If you don't have access to
the newspaper, you may read the article on-line here. Our thanks to the Democrat for the wonderful
exposure for our group.
